Business Intelligence Analyst 

 

The Business Intelligence Analyst will work with the Business Intelligence Manager and the IS team to help chart existing processes in order to define current reporting activities for the development of existing and future reporting procedures and models. Additional responsibilities include but are notmimited to:

  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define reporting requirements and goals.
  • Chart existing processes in order to define current reporting activities for the development of existing and future reporting procedures and models.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives for improving processes in reporting systems across the organization.
  • Communicate reporting changes, enhancements, and modifications – verbally or through written documentation – to management and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood.
  • Assist in QA testing of Business Intelligence applications as well as legacy systems and or new systems implementations.
  • Develop routines and procedures for end-users to facilitate best practice use of reporting tools and applications.
  • Create documentation for new and existing reports; assist with documentation of legacy system changes.
  • Train users on new business intelligence reporting tools.
  • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing report procedures and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
  • Liaise with various business groups in the organization to facilitate implementation of new or improved reporting processes.
  • Assist in the development of interfaces for access to data, run ad-hoc queries to support end-users, and implement/support relevant software solutions.

 

Requirements:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information management systems, mathematics or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of SQL databases and Transact-SQL
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Systems and development platforms a plus
  • Experience with reporting tools and software, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Reporting Services or Business Object’s Webi, Deski or Xcelsius a plus
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
